Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work

The Council for Training in Social Work was established by the Health Visiting and Social Work Training Act 1962, but was later renamed as the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (CCETSW) under the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970.

The CCETSW was responsible for promoting and overseeing education and training for social workers. The organisation was abolished in 2001 and its functions were transferred to four new organisations: the General Social Care Council (GSCC), the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), the Care Council for Wales (CCW) and the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).
