Local involvement networks (LINks)

The Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 enabled the creation of local involvement networks (LINks).

National Patient Safety Agency

The National Patient Safety Agency was created in July 2001 as an arms-length body of the Department of Health. Its purpose was to monitor patient safety and reduce risks to patients of the NHS.

Local specialised commissioning groups (LSCGs), Specialised commissioning groups (SCGs), National specialist commissioning advisory group (NSCAG) and National specialist commissioning group (NSCG)

The national specialist commissioning group (NSCG) was responsible for overseeing the commissioning of specialist and rare services for England and was established following the Carter review in 2006.

National Radiological Protection Board

The National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) was established as a non-departmental body by the Radiological Protection Act 1970.

Local strategic partnerships (LSPs)

Local strategic partnerships (LSPs) bring together local, community, private and voluntary organisations to tackle local issues.

NHS England (NHS Commissioning Board)

The NHS Commissioning Board special health authority was created in October 2011 to prepare the business model, resources and infrastructure for the NHS Commissioning Board.
