The General Medical Council (Fitness to Practise) Rules Order of Council 2004

In 2004, the way in which the General Medical Council investigated concerns about doctors was fundamentally changed.

The new fitness to practise rules 2004 brought together existing procedures on performance, health and conduct into a single test and made provision for the employment of professional case examiners at an investigation stage (both medical and lay).
