The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) became the statutory regulator for public health specialists from backgrounds other than medicine or dentistry in January 2015, after a consultation process which ran from 4 September–14 November 2014. Prior to this, regulation of non-medical public health specialists had been voluntary rather than statutory.
The Faculty of Public Health supported the government's response, and suggested that statutory regulation would help assure the public that public health specialists were properly trained and regulated.
