Local Government Act 2000

The Local Government Act 2000 received royal assent on 28 July 2000.
The Act established new powers for local authorities to improve the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of their area. Every local authority was obliged to compile local community strategies detailing how they would improve wellbeing in the area.
