The Local Authorities (public health functions and entry to premises by local healthwatch representatives) regulations 2013

The secretary of state made regulations in March 2013 which required local authorities to carry out certain public health functions, including:

  • weighing and measuring children in school as part of the national child measurement programme (NCMP)
  • the provision of health checks as part of the health checks programme
  • the provision of open-access sexual health services in their area
  • the provision of public health advice to clinical commissioning groups
  • the provision of advice and information to promote health protection arrangements.
